Who are we ?

The pilot group:
Tania Vandamme, Rue du Savoir
Eva Röben, Place ministre Wauters
Quentin Jossen, rue du Savoir

Inhabitants De La Roue

We are residents of the ‘Cité Jardin de La Roue’, members of the ‘Collectif de La Roue’. The project’s pilot group consists of three people. Each of us has had its own first experiences with energy renovation of their houses – and found it very difficult! We had problems finding good companies – small sites are not very attractive -, obtaining planning permission, coordinating the different contractors with their different specialisations…

And yet we all have technical professions, quite related with the renovation sector:

Tania is an architect. Eva is a mechanical engineer, and  Quentin is also an engineer, specialised in the energy performance of buildings. This is also why we had the courage to embark on such a project.

Moreover, we are supported by our neighbours and friends of the ‘Collectif de La Roue’, who have diverse knowledge and skills (administration, biodiversity, pedagogy…) and a lot of goodwill to support us, to follow up our activities and to take a critical look at them.

The ‘Collectif de La Roue’

The Collectif de La Roue participated in the 2012/2014 call for projects “Sustainable neighbourhood”, and was selected. In this context, the collective was able to build two collective composts in the ‘La Roue’ neighbourhood; it manages a collective orchard adjacent to the Parc des Résédas (Bizet neighbourhood), and it organises cultural and social activities around the heritage of ‘La Roue’. This is also a way to see each other regularly during these activities or during the virtual coordination meetings of the collective.

All decisions of the ‘Collectif La Roue’ are taken in a participatory way; we inform all the group members by email, call them to the meetings and send them the protocol for comment or feedback. This is also how the collective decided to support the energy renovation project carried out by some of its members. In fact, the energy performance of houses and group purchases were already one of the activities proposed as a priority in the 2012 sustainable neighbourhood application.
